hasten the madhi

Since he took office as Iran’s President in 2005, Mahmoud Ahmedinejad has used his political status as a religious platform for radical Shiite Islam, and a means to express his extremist views. At that time, he predicted the end of the world would happen within 3 years, a phenomenon commonly speculated by Western religions as Armageddon. Interwoven into his anti-Western political rhetoric is extremist Islamic rhetoric regarding the coming of the Madhi, or Messiah, believed by radical Islam to be a sound Muslim ruler who will offer peace to the region. Ahmedinejad believes that he himself has been appointed by Allah to hasten the Madhi’s coming, and that during last year’s UN council meeting he even had a glowing aura about him, which caused the audience to hang on his every word and not even blink for about 20 minutes. He used to end his public speeches with rhetoric promoting Islamic extremism and hastening of the Madhi, but is now beginning his speeches with this banter, as evidenced in his address at Columbia University last week.

Ahmedinejad is known to be controversial even within his own country, and to the average listener, many of his claims do not seem to coincide with reality. Why would a world leader be lying about uranium enrichment and building a nuclear weapon for PEACEFUL purposes? The technology has emerged and is being distributed to the people who can make it happen, within this destructive alliance of Iran and Russia. Iran, a state sponsor of terrorism has been getting numerous weapons from Russia, and even giving them to its neighbor Syria, who passes them along to Hezbollah, one of the most radical Islamic terrorist groups insistent on destroying Israel. There are now so many Russian Jews in Israel, particularly in the Negev, adjacent to the Islamist Enclave of Gaza. It is no coincidence that the Islamic terrorist group Hamas also has plans to destroy Israel. And Al-Qaeda, the very group which declared Islamic Jihad on the US in 2001, has just declared the same upon Pakistan, destroying statues of their god Buddha, a religious philosophy which conflicts with Islam.

Shortly after his visit to the US, Ahmedinejad and the Iranian parliament declared the US Army and the CIA to be terrorist organizations. According to IRAN’s state-run news agency, the Iranian parliament has reported them to have “trained terrorists and supported terrorism, and they themselves are terrorists.” They mention US involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as attacks by the US on other countries which took place during WWII, and the US support of Israel. These Iranian claims would allude to a basic knowledge of world history, which Ahmedinejad himself lacks, as he denies that one of the most devastating events in history even took place - the Holocaust. His tendency to mask the truth combined with his frequent denial of such significant historical events yields a growing concern regarding his capabilities in leadership of a country. Hasten the Madhi, the end is near.
